Laila Rana is an associate at PGS Law, practicing primarily in the areas of family law and child protection law. She has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia as well as the Supreme Court of British Columbia and has assisted clients with parenting disputes, support issues, protection issues, divorce and division of family property and debt.
Laila is passionate about advocacy work and brings a lens of intersectionality to her legal practice. She feels strongly that legal advocacy requires a thorough consideration of how her client may be impacted by poverty, race, gender inequality and trauma. She is also passionate about children’s rights and welfare and practices with a child centric focus.
Laila has experience with a number of social justice organizations, including the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) and Pivot Legal Society. She is currently a founding member and Director on the Board of the South Asian Legal Clinic of British Columbia and prior to that was a Director on the Board of Children of the Street Society.
Laila attended obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa. She joined Prkacin Gammon & Sim after articling at Legal Aid Ontario and being called to the Ontario Bar and British Columbia Bar in 2015. She is fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. Her personal interests include travel, design, photography and foreign films.
